El Minuto Cafe Elevates Tradition with Fresh Enhancements

The 87-year-old Mexican restaurant is honoring its tradition with a transformative experience and upgrades with the help of the AVANZA Empowerment Fund.

El Minuto Cafe has been serving traditional Sonoran-style cuisine since 1936, spanning over four generations. This family-owned business, renowned for its Carne Seca and Cheese Crisp, takes pride in fostering community relationships and upholding recipes crafted over generations.

Embedded in Tucson tradition, El Minuto Cafe boasts a unique aspect — employees who have dedicated over 30 years to the restaurant, a notable accomplishment in the hospitality industry.

Owner Zulema Salinas, the steward of this Tucson treasure, also owns the building housing the cafe. Following a transformative experience with the City of Tucson Small Business Navigator program, Zulema was introduced to AVANZA.

Through the AVANZA Empowerment Fund, she accessed flexible funding to replace the roof, HVAC system, and bathroom in the historical building that shelters her business. Connect with El Minuto Here: https://www.elminutotucson.com/
